Ronald Lee Chasteen


Ronald Lee Chasteen, 78, of Canton, passed away at 8:15 AM on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Graham Hospital. He was born on January 11, 1942 in Canton, IL to Wayne and Alice (Lockwood) Chasteen. He married Sandra Slater on August 11, 1963 in Canton, IL. She survives.

 Also surviving are three children, Diana Chasteen-Walker of Canton, Danita (Greg) Ellis of Canton, and Ron Chasteen of Canton; six grandsons; one granddaughter; four great-granddaughters; one sister, Charlotte Riley of Cuba, and several nieces and nephews.

 Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Chasteen.

Ronald retired from International Harvester/Navistar after 30 years of service. He was of the Methodist Faith. Ronald enjoyed going camping, hunting, fishing, and golfing in past years. He loved to find four leaf clovers, and his pets. Ronald valued his time with his entire family, loving to talk about the past and tell stories and jokes.

 A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2020 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. A private graveside service will be held at Shield’s Chapel Cemetery. Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Memorials can be made to OSF Heartcare. Please respect the family’s safety and privacy at this time, as there will be a Celebration of life service held at a later date. Due to COVID-19 mitigations, a maximum of 25 people can be inside the building at one time. Please wear a mask and be prepared to wait outside of the funeral home as the staff will escort you in when space is available.
