Larry Lee Ulm


Larry Lee Ulm, 78, of rural Farmington, passed away at 1:27 AM, Sunday, November 8, 2020, at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary and children Tracy D. (Wes) Smith of Wilmington, Illinois, Jason D. (Gina) of Crosby, Texas and Jay L. (Steffanie) of Farmington, Illinois; Grandchildren: Travis, Cody, Kaylee, Drew, Tori, MacKenzie, Alyssa, Ethan and Brooke; 2 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Laurance Ulm and one brother, Jim R. Ulm

Larry worked 31 years at Keystone Steel & Wire retiring in 1997. He continued his working career at Weaver Ridge Golf Club for 3 years and Farmington District 265 for 10 years as grounds keeper. Larry was a 54-year member of Farmington Masonic Lodge #192 AF & AM, Past Master and Treasurer for 32 years. He was also an honorary member of many area lodges. Larry was also a Farmington Township trustee for 17 years, the Middlegrove Homecoming Association Treasurer for 30 plus years, a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau as well as a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and attended First Presbyterian Church of Farmington singing in the choir. Larry loved being part of the Ulm Family Singers.

Larry will be remembered for his passion for his family, his friends, and his livestock. He was a true herdsman, not only to his cattle but to everyone that he knew, nurturing relationships with love and a caring soul. He loved the farming way of life.

There will be a graveside service with Masonic rites at 2:30PM on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, Illinois. Pastors Debbie Rhodes and Andy Sonneborn will officiate. Social distancing and masks observed.
