Jerry L. “Dudley” Brown, 79, of London Mills, IL, US ARMY Veteran, passed away on October, 22, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. He was born in 1941 in Canton, IL, to Estie and Veda Brown. He married his wife of 56 years, Hazel (Rippy) Brown, in Middlegrove, IL. She survives.

Jerry is also survived by his children, Staci (Kyle) Cecil of Maquon and Layne (Becky) Brown of Sunriver, OR. Also surviving are two brothers: Phil (Neva) of Maquon; Earle of London Mills; four sisters: Sharon Ownley of Valrico, FL; Karen Fillingham of Canton; Nancy (Randy) Rader of Springfield; Judy (James) McGann of Canton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Gordon “Mike” of London Mills; Robert of Canton; three sisters: Margaret Drinkwater of Banner; Caryl Dare of Canton; Patricia Oltman of Pekin.

Jerry graduated from Valley High School in 1959. He was proud of his U.S. Army service from 1965–1967. In 1993, he retired from Caterpillar after working as a gear machinist for 30-plus years.

Affectionately known as Dudley, he always had jokes, a quick quip or a smile at the ready. For many years, you’d find him harassing umpires and refs at local softball and basketball games or hunting across the county with his coyote hounds. In recent years, he kept the jokes and smiles flowing across many golf courses and with numerous friends who enjoyed sharing good music and good stories. A life so well lived.

Private graveside services have been accorded. Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington, IL, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to London Mills Fire & Ambulance or the Rapatee Union Church. You may share memories and condolences at www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
