Judy A. Essex

Canton – Judy A. Essex, 55, formerly of Farmington, passed away at 10:50 PM on Monday, May 11, 2020 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home from extensive stage IV cancer.

She was born on May 12, 1964 in Peoria, the youngest child of John and Ruth (Ewalt) Essex. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jeff and Jayson Essex. Surviving is one sister, Jennifer (Essex) Andrews of Trivoli and one brother, Joel Essex of Farmington. Also surviving is brother in law, Mark Andrews; sisters in law, Mary Essex Brennan and Candis Essex Fralick; five nephews, Nathan, Jared, Chad, Kyle, and Justin; two nieces, Mckenzie and Jade; three great nephews, Quinn, Ben, and Brogan; six great nieces, Trinity, Hannah, Ava, Coraline, Bekah, and Ella; one aunt, Marlyn Ewalt and many cousins and friends.

Judy graduated from Farmington High School in 1981 as a Junior and moved out to Wyoming to work at a Gold Mine. She had an adventurous spirit and loved the great outdoors. In Wyoming she enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding and meeting new friends. Judy never knew a stranger and had a heart of gold. She moved back to Farmington in 2000 and attended Spoon River College of Nursing in Canton. Due to health reasons she left her employment at Courtyard Estates in Canton this February. Her family would like everyone reading this now to take care of your health and if in doubt – please check it out. Early detection can save lives.

A special thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Graham Medical Group, OSF Medical Center and OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. They were compassionate and attentive to all her needs. Judy was an animal lover and had many pets growing up such as dogs, cats, goats, calves, horses, pigs, birds, snakes, ducks, chickens and the list goes on. Her family would be honored if, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Fulton County Animal Shelter in her honor.

Per Judy’s wishes, there will be no services, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Burial of ashes will be at Trivoli Cemetery in Trivoli, IL. A “Wake at the Lake” will be scheduled at a later date at the Farmington Sportsman’s Club where she was a member and enjoyed spending time camping and fishing.
