Walter “Burl” Anderson


Walter “Burl” Anderson, 79, of Middlegrove, passed away at 12:36 PM on Friday, January 17, 2020 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on June 26, 1940 in Middlegrove, a son of Walter A. and Florine (Morse) Anderson. He married Sandra Allen on August 5, 1961 in Galesburg, she preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death are one brother, Vernon Anderson; one sister, Geraldine Taylor, and a special friend, Joann Morse.

Surviving are his children, David (Lori) Anderson; Connie (Garry) Kay both of Middlegrove; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Arlene “Teen” (Duck) Wymore of Neoga, Illinois.

Walter owned and operated Anderson’s Café in Middlegrove for many years, and worked and retired as a truck driver after several years. He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge, served his country as a United States Army Veteran, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed going camping, and visiting casinos, but most of all was spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, where visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the services. Pastor David Swain will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the United States Army, and Farmington American Legion. Memorials can be made to the Farmington Rescue Squad 1100.
