Betty L. Taylor


St. David – Betty L. Taylor, 91, of St. David, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on September 15, 1928 in Gilchrist, to Stanko and Mary (Padovich) Svetich.

Betty married Allen Taylor on July 30, 1974 in Portage, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2014.

She is survived by three children, Phyllis (Mike) McMullen of Pekin, Pete Delach of Lewistown, and Kathryn Zawadzski of Edmond Oklahoma, one sister Margaret (the late Eugene) Jackson, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Allen, one daughter Patricia Maher, three brothers, Stanley, John, and Robert, and two grandchildren.

Betty was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. David. She was a member of the past Women’s Club in St. David and the St. David Optimist Club. She volunteered for Graham Hospital and was very active in her church and enjoyed volunteering for the church bazaar. Betty was an avid reader, she enjoyed cross word puzzles, polka dancing, and playing bingo.

A funeral service will be held on Monday January 6, 2020 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11:00 a.m. visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to St., Michaels Catholic Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
