Edward Riley


Wee-Ma-Tuk – Edward L. Riley, 69, of Wee-Ma-Tuk, passed away at 8:46 PM on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his residence after a tough three year battle with lung cancer. He was born on January 11, 1948 in Canton to Lester Riley and Betty Evelyn Shubert-Windsor. He married Charlotte Chasteen on September 13, 1997 at Wee-Ma-Tuk; she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Kevin (Gina) Riley of Peoria, Lori (Tim) Loving of Galesburg; three step-children, Julie (Jared) Hardy of Glasford, David (Mandi Bybee) Runyan of Peoria, and Scott Runyan of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Morgan Riley, Tori and Eli Loving, Cierra (Ross Swanson) Hardy, Austin Runyan, and Dru and Drake Runyan; one great-grandchild, Adkins Grace Swanson; two brothers, Roger and Johnny Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Wayne and Alice Chasteen.

Edward retired after 36 years of working in the Rod Mill at Keystone. He was a member of the Bargaining Team for the Independent Steel Worker Alliance Union and a former member of Wee-Ma-Tuk Country Club. Edward enjoyed golfing and mushrooming. He loved to go to Florida in the winter in the RV. Edward was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Chicago Bears fan.

Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Angy Chasteen will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Shields Chapel Cemetery in Rural Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory.
