Occupation:     owner and operator of Derry Motors and Derry Truck Line in Astoria. He went on to work at Caterpillar District 121 for 10 years. He was also a coal minor for 20 years for the AMAX Coal Co at Sun Spot Mine and 10 years at the Wabash Underground Mine in Mt. Carmel. He then worked construction for Operating Engineers Local 649 for 9 years.

Memberships: United Mind Workers of America and Operating Engineers Local 649. He was a 50 year member of the Astoria and Vermont Masonic Lodge and the Ipava Order of the Eastern Star where he was a Past Master.  His hobbies included owning and training quarter horses and he was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Visitation:   6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the funeral home with masonic services at 8 pm, conducted by the Vermont Masonic Lodge.  
Interment:     Mt. Zion Cemetery in Astoria, IL
