Dorothy T. Solecki


Canton- Dorothy T. Solecki, 89 of Canton passed away at 9:42 pm Friday, February, 26, 2016 at Graham Hospital in Canton.  She was born on December 13, 1926 in Chicago to Walter and Mary (Frankenburger) Telesnicki.  Dorothy married Edward A. Solecki on June 18, 1949 in Chicago.  He preceded her in death on January 25, 2013.  Also preceding in death were her parents, and sisters; Catherine Telesnicki, and Anna Ohner, and grandson Michael Grgurich.  Surviving are 4 children; Donna (Phil) Grgurich of Canton, Carol (Jim) Houk of Eugene, OR, Janet (Flint Boettcher) Solecki of St. Louis, MO, and Mary Kay (John) Taft of Sidney, IL, 6 grandchildren; Philip (Lindsey) Grgurich, Andrea (Justin) Welzien, Marissa Houk, Mara Taft, Alison Boettcher, and Jason Boettcher, 2 great-grandchildren; Matthew Grgurich, and Lucas Grgurich, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she participated in the prayer chain and Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Graham Hospital for many years and later volunteered at the hospital as a Pink Lady.  Dorothy was a long-term member of the YMCA and donated to Partners of Youth.  Dorothy enjoyed family vacations and hiking. Heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful staff at Red Oak Estates who provided kind and compassionate care in her final years. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt.
Visitation will be from 4:45-6:45 pm Friday, March 4 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a 6:45 pm Rosary.  Mass will be at 10:00 am Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton with Father Daniel Ebker officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Canton.  Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
