Wanda R. Fawcett, age 92 of Ipava, Illinois, passed away at 10:20 pm Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was born October 28, 1932 in Lewistown, Illinois, the daughter of Willis Edward and Letha Mae (Berry) Cooper. She married Delbert “Bud” Fawcett on December 11, 1948 in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2014.
Also preceding her in death were her son Bobby Joe Fawcett, two grandsons; Christopher Fawcett and James Cercone, great-granddaughter Sawyer Ruth Fawcett, two sisters; Wenoa Jean Hadsall and Carlette Patricia Seward and one brother William Clifford Cooper.
Wanda is survived by two daughters; Betty Fawcett (Jaime) Cercone of Lewistown, Barbara Jones of Macomb, Illinois, two sons; Bill Fawcett and Ben (Gretchen) Fawcett, both of Ipava, ten grandchildren; Justin Cercone, Abbie Fawcett, Robert Fawcett, Jena (Larry) Payne, Bryan (Heather) Jones, Jeremy Fawcett, Billy Joe Fawcett, Jr., Clinton (Emily) Fawcett, Brooke (Quinten) VanGIlder, and Allison (Brennan) Klitz, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She worked for the Lewistown Locker and for Clarytona Manor Nursing Home, both in Lewistown and then worked in the Gift Shop at Dickson Mounds Museum from which she retired in 2003.
Wanda enjoyed crocheting, quilting and reading. Her favorite movie was Pretty Woman and she loved her grandchildren dearly.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, Illinois. Pastor Kevin Kessler will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Harris Cemetery, Table Grove, Illinois. Memorials in Wanda’s memory may be given to the Ipava American Legion Auxiliary.
