Rebecca S. Gehret

Rebecca S. Gehret, 42, of Havana, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 9:29 a.m. at Mason District Hospital in Havana. She was born on September 21, 1982 in Springfield, Illinois to Floyd and Carla (Enslow) Mercer.

Surviving are Rebecca’s fiancé, Brian Selby; children, Zachary “Zack” Gibbs and Natalie Gibbs of Havana; step-son, Dawson Lawrence of Havana; grandson, Aries Gibbs of Astoria; siblings, Sara Picken of Havana, Courtney Wood of Springfield, Savannah Mercer of Girard, and Kristen Mercer of Virden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Kuhlman; and grandparents.
Rebecca worked as a CNA for many years at Sunny Acres, Clayberg, and Havana Healthcare Center. She made shirts and crocheted in her spare time. She enjoyed arts and crafts and cats, and was a “foodie”.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana.
