Irene was born December 1, 1925, in rural Brimfield, IL, to Fred and Leatha (Harms) Fry.
Irene married C. Ronald Gibson on October 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2000.
Irene is survived by two children, Gene (Peggy) Gibson of Elmwood, and Kenneth (Janet) Gibson of Yates City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Irene was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene Fry.
Irene was a lifelong farmer. Out of high school, she worked at Caterpillar. Irene was involved with the Peoria County Homemakers, Meals on Wheels, M.A.N.N.A., and the Senior Citizens Drop-in. Irene was also known for her needlepoint work.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Elmwood Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to B.Y.E. Ambulance Education Fund.
