Monnie Chapman

Monnie Chapman, 70 of Canton, previously of Washington Illinois, passed away, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born in Peoria, on September 6, 1954, to David Ray and Wanda (Reed) Parrent. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Gary Chapman. They were married on November 4, 2001.

Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Nerude, Adam Todd, and Ryan Todd, two step children, Crindy (Joe) Hedges, and Adam Porter, one brother, Roger Parrent, eleven grandchildren, Hannah, Bella, Makayla, Andrew, Trevor, Chloe, Jireh, Judah, Savannah, Kage, and Willa, one great granddaughter, Melody, her best friend for 61 years, Jan Rodgers, and her four dachshunds, Pippy. Buster, Rosie, and Roxy.

Monnie worked for 35 years, at Midwest Urological Center in Peoria as a transcriptionist. She previously attended First Baptist Church in Canton and she volunteered for several years at Westview Elementary School as a reading aide. Monnie will be remembered by many as “grandma”. Her greatest love in life was her grandchildren, she never missed an opportunity to spoil them however she could.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of life will be held at the Canton Assembly of God Church on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
