Jeffrey “Jeff” Alan Cogar, 62, of Havana, passed away at 7:07 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1963 in Havana to Kenneth Clyde and Shirley Joan (Bennett) Cogar.Jeff is survived by his daughter, Kayleigh (Richie) Kincaid; grandson, Owen Kincaid; siblings, Daniel Lee (Karen) Holmes, Connie Lynn Selby, Merle Dean Holmes, and Kimberly Jo Cogar; Uncle Steve and Aunt Jennifer and their family; sister-in-law, Laurie Holmes; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including his special nephew, Charlie Bailey; and many family members in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jerry Laverne Holmes and Melanie Joy Shores; niece, Whitney Lane; nephew, Steven Holmes; aunt, Lana Sue Bennett; and brother-in-law, Charlie Selby.
Jeff worked for Cargill for over 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed mushrooming in the spring. He was a very good cook, and a very talented guitar player and musician. He loved people, and was known as “Cogie” to his friends and “Uncle Duck” to his youngest family members. Jeff was a wonderful father, son, nephew, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned at this time.
