He was born on October 28, 1933 in Canton to James M. and Garnet (Cadwalder) Lingenfelter.
He married the love of his life, Genevieve “Genny” McNeil on July 7, 1952 in Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2018.
Surviving are his children, Yolanda Pennock, Clifton Lingenfelter, Alina Lingenfelter, grandchildren, James (Charlie) Lingenfelter, Andrew Pennock, Katrina Pennock, great grandchildren, Billy (Johanna) Ewell, Donavan Lingenfelter, Alex (Jack Deppert) Lingenfelter, Zach Lingenfelter, great great-grandchildren, William and Waylon, several nieces and nephews and many close friends who were like family.
James graduated from Canton High School in 1952 and then worked as a tool maker at Caterpillar retiring in 1982.
He was an avid rock climber and enjoyed traveling and backpacking. James built his house on the family farm and enjoyed working on his property. He had an annual wiener roast for 30 plus years and his family and friends will always cherish the good times that were had and plan to continue the tradition. He also had a passion for woodworking and riding his motorcycles.
A funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, May 16, 2025 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
