Linda L. Schmidt

Linda L. Schmidt, 76, of Lewistown passed away at 7:09 pm Saturday May 10, 2025 at her home. She was born October 14, 1948 in Fulton County, IL;  the daughter of James Jacob and Stella Louise (Pollitt) Oatman Sr. She married Roy T. Schmidt on January 24, 1969 at Locust Lane United Methodist Church at rural Canton. He died June 27, 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Survivors include two children, Christina (Jay) Heckart of Lewistown, and Jacob Schmidt of Lewistown, one brother, Curtis (Raemarie) Oatman of Ohio, three sisters, Sandy (Stanley) Burget of Lewistown, Marcia Groff of Canton, and Mary Carmer of Urbana.

Linda worked at the former Clarytona Nursing Home in Lewistown. She was a teachers aid at Central Grade School in Lewistown and also worked in the cafeteria at Lewistown Community High School. She was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday May 16, 2025 at the Lewistown United Methodist Church where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Pastor Shane Smith will officiate and burial will follow at Cuba Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown Rescue Squad. Condolences may be made at henrylange.com
