He is survived by his brother Leonard and sisters Cecilia, Stella, and Irma, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Catholic school. Robert served honorably in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
On November 15, 1969, he married Anna Christine Preston at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Together, they built a loving home and raised six children: Adam Lance (Jenny), Benjamin Travis, Amber Lorene, Preston Jacob (Krissy), James Robert, and Valarie Josephine (Randy Heinz). Robert and Anna celebrated 55 years of marriage in November 2024.
He was a devoted grandfather to Shannon, Ethan, Cody, Bridge, Erin, Tristan, Chance, Tyler, Colbie, Shelbie, Ivy, Brianna, Sophie, Shooter, and Jenna, and a proud great-grandfather to Melody Christine.
Robert had a deep love for the outdoors. He spent many years working as a logger and later as a skilled carpenter and roofer, including time with Local 624 in Pekin during the 1970s. He especially enjoyed hunting and proudly maintained a record of yearly white-tail deer harvests. Whether fishing, camping, or simply sitting around a fire with family and friends, Robert found joy in nature and in sharing those moments with others.
Known for his generous spirit, Robert loved to feed everyone and made all feel welcome. He enjoyed old country and polka music, and he fondly remembered his childhood days spent with his cousins Earl Jr., Imogene, and Velma.
Robert’s warmth, kindness, and deep love for his family and community will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
