William Thomas Patton, 76, of Havana passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 2:20 a.m. at Mason City Area Nursing Home. He was born on May 28, 1947 in Bermuda to William and Betty (Hasten) Patton. He married Bernadean “Bernie” Russel in 1999 and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2019.William is survived by his children: Lori (Troy) Wickman of Havana, Todd (Nicki) Patton of Bethlehem, Georgia, Jeri (Jason) Shilling of Havana, and Heather (Stevan) Hofreiter of Havana; grandchildren: Taylor, Tory, Taryn, Britany, Jessica, Tanner, Trevor, Claire, Madison, Dominique, and Samuel; and great-grandchildren: Brooks, Hayes, Harper, Ella, Kyler, Korbin, Blakely, Brecken, Colter, Jaxen, Braelynn, and Lillian. Also surviving are his siblings: Shirley Valdez of Peoria, Jean (Stan) Miller of Clinton, Mary Harris of Peoria, Terry Patton of Seattle, Washington, and Thomas Patton of Claymont, Delaware. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, Troy Patton, and sister, Jan Sherwood.
William retired from Caterpillar after 35 years. He enjoyed his backyard pond, gardening, golf, and especially fishing, which is what brought him to Havana. He enjoyed being around his faithful dog, T as well. William loved T and always spent as much time as possible with him. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., also at Hurley Funeral Home. Rev. Tanner Patton will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
