Vivian "Joan" Barton

Vivian “Joan” Barton, 90, a lifelong resident of Elmwood, passed away Jan. 13 at Country Comfort Retirement Home in Elmwood. She was born Sep. 7, 1933, in Elmwood to Ralph S. and Vivian (Masters) Bacher. They preceded her in death, as did her brother Ralph W. Bacher of Elmwood.

Joan graduated from EHS in 1952 and from Knox College in 1956. She married Francis L. Barton in Peoria on Aug. 16, 1958. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2023. She is survived by three sons, Bernard, Barry (Gilda), and John (Marion) all of Elmwood, and a daughter, Monica Eichelkraut of Chelsea, Maine. She leaves four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Per Joan’s wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of the ashes will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery on a later date.
