Velma Jean Johnson

Velma Jean Johnson, 96 of Peoria, passed away at 11:55 AM on Saturday, July 1, 2023 in her home surrounded by family. She was born on August 4, 1926 in South Pekin, IL, to Arthur Noel and Tressie Mae (Fortney) Hinderliter. She married Trewyn L. Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1998.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Wilmer Hinderliter; two sisters, Vivian Hill and Betty Tiseareno; two grandchildren, Van Johnson Jr. and Shane Johnson.

Velma is survived by two children, Van Alan Johnson Sr. and Felicia Paulos; one sister, Linda Quick; five grandchildren, Shaun Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Austin Paulos, Tim Johnson and Amber Kelner; Eight great-grandchildren, Van Johnson, Wynn Johnson, Archer Johnson,Ashland Johnson, Reese Johnson, Beau Johnson, Rocco Johnson, and Piper Kelner.

Velma enjoyed working in her garden, bird watching, and puzzles. She loved spending time and having lunch dates with her daughter, Felicia.
