Also surviving are his children, Lisa (Joe) Scott of Atlanta, Georgia; Lesley (Charlie) Godby of Germantown Hills, Illinois; Joseph (Michelle) Fontana of Peoria, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Karley Scott, Katy Scott-McElhaney, Sydney Godby, Grace Godby, Brooke Godby, Lucas Fontana, Ava Fontana, and Giana Fontana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Fontana.
Robert was a very hard worker, his entire years were spent in the grocery business as a meat cutter, and co-owner of the John & Bob (Red Fox) Grocery store in Farmington, and later retiring from Raber Packing Company in Peoria. He was very dedicated to family and loved being a grandpa. He was a devout catholic, and member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington, where he was a Eucharistic minister.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 156 East Vernon Street, Farmington, Illinois 61531. Monsignor Timothy Nolan will officiate. A private family burial of ashes will take place in Oakridge Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials can be made to Transitions Hospice Care, 8914 N Prairie Point, Peoria, Illinois 61615.
