He was born on October 3, 1927 in Missouri, to Gussie and Cecil (Brookhart) Selby. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by the love of his life of over 50 years, Sarah Stehl, and their two children, Carma Jones of Smithfield and Stacey Calvin of Havana, five grandchildren: Zachary (Meghan) Ford, Nathan (Nicole) Jones, Dexter Ford, Sarah (Clark) Bogner, and Jacob Calvin, three great-grandchildren, Gabe Ford, Gavin Ford, and Grant Jones, one great-granddaughter on the way, and one son in law Terry Ford.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Bonnie Ford, several brothers and sisters and two sons in laws, David Jones and Mike Calvin.
Jim was a Navy veteran. He worked in construction for many years. Jim was a long time St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He loved to read the newspaper to keep up on current events. He was a proud “Papa” to all of his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family he enjoyed his friends stopping by his house for a visit and a cold beer.
A memorial service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, on Saturday July 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will immediately follow at Marietta Cemetery in Marietta.
