Shirley E. Day

Shirley E. Day, 82, of Canton, formerly of Mesa Arizona, passed away at 12:01 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth. She was born on July 3, 1941, in Fiatt, to Floyd and Violet (Dilts) Putman. They preceded her in death, along with her husband James “J.D.” Day, one daughter Samantha Johnston, and ten siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Lynna (Rick) Lehmkuhl of Peoria, three step children, two sisters, Helen (Dick) Putman – Kington of Indiana, and Violet (Ronnie) Melvin of Canton, son in law, Scott Johnston of Arizona, seven grandchildren, Crystal (Adam) Woodside of Galesburg, Travis (Kristen) Lehmkuhl of Washington, Brian Johnston of Arizona, Tyler (Keenan) Johnston of Colorado, Shalon (Kevin) Lehmkuhl of Chillicothe, Chantele (Branden) Craig of Iowa, and Andy Day of Illinois, and fourteen great grandchildren. Shirley loved her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, baking and making candy. Spoiling her grandchildren was her upmost priority. She was spunky and full of laughter, and was always willing to help anyone. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by anyone that had a chance to be in her life. Cremation rites will be accorded by Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A butterfly release will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1 pm, at the Lakeland Park Pavilion.
