Darrel G. Buswell

Darrel G. Buswell, 71, of Ipava, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at his home. He was born on April 12, 1954 in Canton, IL, the son of Kenneth E. and Esta “Claribel” (Klinedinst) Buswell. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother; Donald (and Niccole) Buswell of Ipava, IL, six nephews; Nicholas Hagen, Devin (and Becky) Buswell, Chase (and Lily) Hagen, Jacob (and Alisa) Buswell, Elijah (and Emily) Buswell, and Josiah (and Niccole) Buswell, and nine great-nieces and nephews.

Darrel was a life-long carpenter. Darrel, along with his brother Donald, started Buswell Builder's Construction thirty-seven years ago. After Donald's retirement, Phillip Buswell became Darrel's partner in the business.

Darrel was a history buff. He loved having annual firework displays, watching sports events involving his family, and playing softball, golf and volleyball.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Berean Christian Church in Ipava, Illinois. Pastor Kevin Kessler will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Fire Department or the Ipava Ballpark.

Lyndia David

Lyndia David, 78, of Fulton County, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Farmington Village in Farmington.

She was born on July 27, 1947 in Havana to Corda (Huston) Lane. She preceded her in death along with her step father Woodrow Wilson Lane.

She married Martin David on September 21, 1974 in Liverpool. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015.

Surviving are her children, Marty David of Marrietta, Gerald (Taleah) David of La Pine, OR, Charles (Denise) Chamberlin of Mount Jackson, VA, Karen Barnett of Liverpool, Step children, Karl David, Christina Vanmiddlesworth, one sister, Crystal Stufflebeam and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dannielle Bohn, step children, Greg David, Kevin David, Linda Sue David, one brother and one sister.

Lyndia served in the U.S. Army. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed crafting and gave her many of her crafts away to her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing games like Bunko and Farkle.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

A graveside funeral service with military rites will follow at 11 a.m. at the Salem-Wilcoxen Cemetery.

Larry Taff

Larry G. Taff, 81, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on June 4, 1944 in Canton to Harry and MaryLee (Downing) Taff.

He first married Linda Almasi on November 14, 1964. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1996. He later married Judy (DeLost) Standard on October 3, 1998. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2010.

Surviving him is his significant other, Cindy Wirebaugh, his children, Le (Karen) Taff of Corydon, IN, Lisa (Mike) McRoberts of Fort Collins, CO, Lon Taff of Sacramento, CA, Laurel (Brent) McLean of Tremont, Layne (Becky) Taff of Calhoun, MO, step children, Jill (John) Doak of Rock Island, Jeff (Kim) Standard of Farmington, Scott (Sara) Wirebaugh of Canton, Jeanie (Troy Mackey) Wirebaugh of Canton, three brothers, Jim (Pat) Taff of St. Simons Island, GA, Mike (the late Jill) Taff of Fairview, Rick (Diana) Taff of Canton, twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Also preceding him in death are his parents and one grandson.

Larry worked for Caterpillar as a machine designer retiring in 1999. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton and a member of the Farmington Moose where he would play in the weekly pitch games.

Larry was constantly in motion. He could always be found tinkering and working on his property when he wasn’t hunting, woodworking or fishing. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone and always had that special tool to do the job at hand. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed attending the grandkids and great grandkids events.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11 am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the Oaks Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.

Annie M. Clark

Annie M. Clark, 89, of Elmwood, passed away at 10:07 p.m., on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Country Comfort in Elmwood. Annie was born February 13, 1936, in Saint-Avold, France, to Charles and Helene (Lucas) Roussillon. Annie married Lee Clark on November 20, 1975, in Elmwood. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2008.

Annie is survived by two children, Karen (Ed) Tanney of Princeville, and William (Peggy) Edwards of East Peoria; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nephews; and three nieces.

Annie is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Veronique Dubois; one brother, Hubert Roussillon; and one grandchild, Angela Tanney.

Annie was a Cook at Elmwood School District #322 for over 38 years. Her love of cooking was known by all of her family and friends.  Most importantly, she dedicated her life to her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A visitation will be held prior to the service the same day from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will immediately follow the service at Elmwood Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Peoria Humane Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Derrick Joseph "Rick" Eddy

 

Derrick Joseph “ Rick “ Eddy of canton passed away, at his residence, on Tuesday July 29th 2025.

He was born in Canton Il on May 7 1967 to Robert H and Mary Jo (Putrich ) Eddy of Canton. They survive as well as one brother; Brian P Eddy of Peoria.

A graduate of Judson College in Elgin Il, Rick’s work resume included time with both Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg Il, Spoon River College and most recently served as Senior Athletic Program Director with the Canton Family YMCA

Rick dedicated much of his time to youth and student athletics. He has volunteered, organized, coached and refereed in local sports for the past several years.

Those that knew him know that he was an avid sports lover and a big fan of the San Diego padres and Kansas City chiefs.

Cremation rites will be accorded with the Oaks Hines Funeral Home and crematorium of Canton. A celebration of life event will be announced at a later date.

Wendy HiltonWendy Hilton

Wendy Hilton, 66, of Canton, passed away on August 1, 2025 at her residence. She was born on January 12, 1959 in Detroit, MI. to Jim and Muriel (Bowton) Widger. She first married Rocky Pilgrim on October 29, 1979 and he preceded her in death. Wendy later married Steve Hilton on May 4, 1990 and he also preceded her in death in 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters; Denise Long and Susan Widger and grandson Sebastian Rilea. Surviving are her children; Jessica (Shawn) Murphy of Lewistown, Hilary Henderson of Lewistown, Darcie (Jim) Mahr of Lewistown, Rocky Pilgrim of Pekin, Lacy Fall of Liverpool and Tylor Henderson of Canton, nine brothers; Joe (Pat) Henderson, Tony (Julie) Henderson, Jeff (Elsie) Henderson, Kendall Widger, Michael (Alex) Widger, Samuel Widger, Joseph Widger, Thomas (Kelli) Widger, Douglas (Heather) Widger, four sisters; Melissa Kay Reyes, Sherry (Kevin) Banninga, Melanie (Matthew) Barnes, Judy Brady, fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Per her request cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton and a Celebration of life will be 2 pm, Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the American Legion in Canton.

Richard “Dick” Werry

Richard “Dick” L. Werry, 90, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on July 2, 1935 in Canton to John and Pauline (Bybee) Werry Sr.

He married Jacque Atkins on April 16, 1981. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, John Werry, Paula (Bryan) Werry-Bennett, Kevin Tomlinson, Tammy (the late Michael) Tomlinson-Fanning, brother, David (Chris) Werry, eight grandchildren, Bryce (Lori) Foster, Amanda (Shawn) Larkin, Paul Fanning, Allison (Alex) Fanning-Hailey, Ashley Fanning, Richard (Tiffany) Bennett, Emilee (Edwin) Drane, Austyn Werry-Hoegger, twenty great grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and a bonus daughter, Diana Pasley.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce, one brother, John “Jack” (Loretta) Werry Jr and three sisters, Dixie LaFary, Karen Davis and Judy Melvin.

Dick served in the Navy Reserve for two years and later went into active duty in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and then received his Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. He taught school at Pontiac Township High School, District 429 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Pontiac and Canton. He enjoyed to fish hunt, garden and play golf.

Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

A graveside burial of his ashes with military services will be held at 11am, on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Foster Cemetery in Rural Fairview with Rev. Ron Jasen officiating. A meal will be provided following the service at the Canton Family Restaurant in Canton.
