Linda L. Bailey

Linda L. Bailey, 88, of Havana, passed away at Mason District Hospital, in Havana, at 8:44 a.m., on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was born November 6, 1936, in Havana, to Herbert and Avis May (Dobson) Dye. She married Paul Huston Bailey in Springfield, Tennessee, on December 3, 1951 and spent 73 beautiful years with the love of her life.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Paul, of Havana; four children: Paul “Doug” (Janet) Bailey, of Springfield, Illinois, Steven (Anna) Bailey, of Washington, Illinois, James (Richard Knight Jr.) Bailey, of Chicago, Illinois, and Jodi (Jamie) Skaggs, of Havana; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Hattie, Jessica, Joel, Tyler, Bailey, Drake, and Avery; as well as five great-grandchildren: Ella, Eva, Eli, Emily, and Tate Huston. Also surviving are five siblings: Judy Richardson, Mary Kolves, Kenneth Dye, Michael Dye, and Allen Dye. She was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings: Valera Middleton, Barbara Bohanan, Grover “Buck” Dye, Louis Dye, and Gary Dye.

Mrs. Bailey was a lifelong farmer. She enjoyed word search puzzles, the Gameshow Network, and cooking for her family and friends.

Bonnie J Danner

Bonnie J Danner, 89, of Trivoli, passed away on May 6, 2025 at home. Born on Dec 24, 1935 to Raymond and Belva Berniece (Vawter) Gilstrap in Bevier, Mo. She married Kerry R Danner, Sr. Feb, 1972 in Riverton, Il. Surviving is her husband, daughter Barbara R (Wayne) Haley, son Jeffrey M (Barbara McVey) Brown, Stepson Kerry R Danner Jr., Brothers Ben (Diane Porter) Gilstrap and Bryon David Gilstrap Sr. sister Betty Perrine, 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Billy D (Colleen Meador) Gilstrap, Robert D (Dixie Kimbrell) Gilstrap, and Barry “Butch” Gilstrap.

Bonnie belonged to the First Baptist Church in Farmington and Graduated from FCHS class of 1953. She worked at Cilco in Farmington, banks in Madison Park, Peoria, and Trivoli. She also worked with Kelly’s services and Spoon River Home Health. She especially enjoyed her work caring for others and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM-3:30 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Graveside service will follow visitation at 4:00 PM the same day at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Pastor Jason Gilmore will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Trivoli Rescue Squad. Monnie Chapman

Monnie Chapman, 70 of Canton, previously of Washington Illinois, passed away, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born in Peoria, on September 6, 1954, to David Ray and Wanda (Reed) Parrent. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Gary Chapman. They were married on November 4, 2001.

Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Nerude, Adam Todd, and Ryan Todd, two step children, Crindy (Joe) Hedges, and Adam Porter, one brother, Roger Parrent, eleven grandchildren, Hannah, Bella, Makayla, Andrew, Trevor, Chloe, Jireh, Judah, Savannah, Kage, and Willa, one great granddaughter, Melody, her best friend for 61 years, Jan Rodgers, and her four dachshunds, Pippy. Buster, Rosie, and Roxy.

Monnie worked for 35 years, at Midwest Urological Center in Peoria as a transcriptionist. She previously attended First Baptist Church in Canton and she volunteered for several years at Westview Elementary School as a reading aide. Monnie will be remembered by many as “grandma”. Her greatest love in life was her grandchildren, she never missed an opportunity to spoil them however she could.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of life will be held at the Canton Assembly of God Church on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

Stephen W. Dean

Stephen W. Dean, 75, of Astoria, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his home. He

was born on Monday, December 5, 1949, in Macomb, IL, the son of William “Bill” and Margaret
(Dallman) Dean. Stephen married Carol A. Christ on March 25, 1977, in Galesburg, IL. She
survives.

He is also survived by his three daughters; Melissa (Andrew) Williams of Inman, SC, Lacy
(William “Bill”) Sego of Canton, IL and Courtney Dean of Palm Harbor, FL, five grandchildren;
Andrew “Drew” (Elizabeth) Williams, Ella Williams, Wyatt Sego, Garrett Sego and William “Will”
Sego, sister; Kathryn (Bob) Bridges of Astoria, IL, brother; Scott (Brenda) Dean of Astoria, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Deanna Jo Dean and step-father; Willard France.

Stephen attended Adams State College in Alamosa, CO where he earned his bachelor’s degree
in business. He was Office Supervisor at Public Finance before becoming the Business Office
Manager at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL. He was proud of his heritage, and He loved to
farm and did so for over fifty years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana, IL, and the Rushville Saddle Club.
Steve enjoyed traveling, camping, and horseback riding and loved playing cards with friends and
family.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 10 th at 10:30 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria,
Illinois. Pastor Micah Garnett will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 until 10:30 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Memorials in Steve’s memory may be given to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Angela “Angie” Hooker

Angela “Angie” Hooker, 55, of Canton, passed away, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

She was born in Canton, on October 25, 1969.

She is preceded in death by her mother Linda Bishop, one sister Kayla Hooker, and two infant twin brothers, Charles and Richard Hooker.

Angie is survived by her father Charles (Lisa) Hooker, her significant other of 23 years, Steve Baumann, one son Tyler (Paige) George, four sisters, Charlee Hooker, Ashley (Kevin) Hooker-Connolly, Bobbie Carpenter, and Terri (Clay) Riddell, and one grandson, Harrison George.

She worked at DHL in Peoria. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, and shopping. She enjoyed travel throughout the Caribbean and watching Chicago P.D. Most of all Angie loved spending time with her family.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her grandson’s college fund.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Judith K. Coulter

Judith K. Coulter, 80, of Ellisville, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Sunset Manor in Canton.

She was born on February 21, 1945 in Canton to Carl and Margaret (Deppermann) Bowton.

She married Jerry Coulter on December 6, 1964 in Canton. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2000.

Surviving are her children, Art (Susan) Coulter of Canton, Andy Coulter of Ellisville, Tammy (Don) Mowen of Cuba, two brothers, Roger (Debbie) Bowton of AZ, Mark and (Mary) Bowton of Canton, two sisters, Janice Rilea of Canton, Carla (Gordon) Romine of Canton, grandchildren, Ben Coulter, Jeff Coulter, Steven Coulter, Mariah (Skyler) Pence, Corbin (Delora) Coulter, step grandchildren, Eli Coulter, Mylan Coulter and great grandchildren, Jerry, Evelyn, Addalyn, Levi, Brinley and Elowyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Linda Barclay.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Fiatt Cemetery at 11am. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to a fund for the care of her dog “Oddie” C/O Fairview State Bank.

Maralee J. Wright

Maralee J. Wright, 94, of Canton, passed away, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Farmington Village, in Farmington.

She was born in Canton, on March 14, 1931, to George and Ethel (Sheff) O’Bryant. They preceded her in death as well as one grandson Mitch Wright.

Maralee married Samuel Wright on August 12, 1951. They shared 70 years of marriage before he passed away on June 30, 2022.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Reba) Wright of Fairview TN, and Marty (Karen) Wright of Brodhead WI, one sister, Judy (David) McGinnis of Canton, three grandchildren, Nikki Wright, Doug (Tara) Wright, and Payton Wright, four great grandchildren, Avery, Drake, Gauge, and Ridge, and several nieces and nephews.

Maralee is a graduate of Canton High School with the class of 1949.

She belonged to PEO chapter LY, and worked with the meals on wheels program for 30 years. She was a Canton High School Booster club member, and a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Bryant and Canton. Maralee cherished all her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will immediately follow at White Chapel memory gardens in Canton.
