Albert "Boots" R. Windsor

Albert "Boots" R. Windsor, 93, of Smithfield, IL, passed away 9:40 am on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Bryant, IL, the son of William and Helen (Courtney) Windsor. Albert married Lois Arseno Taylor on February 26, 1949 in Lewistown, IL. Lois preceded Albert in death on June 7, 2016.


Also preceding him are his 2 granddaughters, Misty Chambers and Sina DeGroot, 3 brothers, Harold, Larry, and Donald Windsor, and sister, Lulu Belle Stufflebeam.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (and Danny) Clauson of Glasford, IL, 2 sons, Allen (and Jeanette) Windsor of Havana, IL and Pepie Windsor of Cuba, IL, 4 grandchildren, Scott Chambers, Josh Windsor, Micaela Windsor and Taylor Windsor, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Albert worked at International Harvester in Canton for 30 years, retiring in 1976. After retiring he farmed, his own land and worked for other farmers.

He served in the U.S Navy from 1945 to 1949. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Sphinx and work on Bikini Island testing nuclear bombs.

Albert was a member of the Cuba American Legion and Lewistown VFW. He often donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. He loved to coon hunt, fish and anything that had to do with being outdoors.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Ellen Dodd will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Astoria. The Cuba American Legion will be providing Militery rites. Memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
