Charles R. Houston

Farmington – Charles R. Houston, 74, of Farmington passed away at 8:24 AM on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist. He was born on January 23, 1947 in Sullivan, IN to William J. and Frances C. (Hubble) Houston. He married Diana R. Helm on November 19, 1977 in Decatur, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Craig (Dara) Houston of Decatur, IL and Christina (Greg) Calvin of Mt. Zion, IL and five grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Billie (Harold) Heather.

Charles retired from the Army as a construction supervisor E-7 Sergeant 1st class after 22 years of service. He later worked as a trainer for the First Student Bus Diver in Bartonville, IL. Charles was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Elmwood Baptist Church. He also was the pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Green Valley for 11 years. Charles was also a member of the Valley of Peoria Scottish Rites, Farmington American Legion Post 140 and the Farmington Masonic Lodge #192 A.M. & F.M., where he was also a past master.

Charles served in the United States Army.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington, IL. Pastor Bill Cole will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded with Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Farmington Rescue Squad 1100 or Elmwood Baptist Church.
