Janette Easley on August 31st, 1958 who preceded him in death on April 6th, 1994. He then married Nancy Ward on January 26th, 2002 who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Raymond (and Crystal) Porter of Ipava, John (and Sara) Porter of Ipava, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step-sons, Eldon Stambaugh of Vermont, Craig (and Lynn) Stambaugh of St. Augustine, FL, and Brad (and Jodi) Ward of Yorkville, IL, one step-daughter, Christy (and Larry) Miller of Montrose, CO, six step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and  his brother, Sam (and Linda) Porter.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Miller and Mary Jo Keefauver.

After graduating high school Bill served in the Navy for 3 years. Upon returning home, he farmed in the Ipava area, first with his father and brother, then with his two sons. He served as a Pleasant Township official and church board member. His hobbies included restoring vintage tractors and he was a member of the South Fulton Antique Tractor Club. He was a member of the Ipava Presbyterian Church but attended the Vermont Christian Church for the past 17 years.

Bill was a strong but gentle man who loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. Even unto his final days here with us on this earth, he put the needs and concerns of others ahead of his own. Many of his final words were still encouragements and advice to others. He was a godly example and inspiration to those who knew him. Bill will truly be missed by us all.

Funeral services will be held at the Vermont Christian Church on Monday, November 11th, 2019 at 10 AM with Cody Stinnett officiating. Burial will be in the Ipava cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10th, 2019 from 3 to 5pm at the Vermont Christian Church. Memorials can be made to the Vermont Christian Church or Safe Haven Hospice.
