Mary Lou Oatman, 86, of Canton, passed away at 9:06 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Canton. She was born on December 31, 1932 in Dunfermline, a daughter of Charles and Estella (Bedwell) Pollitt. She married Richard “Dick” Oatman on July 1, 1951 in Canton, he preceded her in death on March 9, 2009.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, four brothers, Leroy, Everett, Perry, Gordon, and one sister, Thelma Nolan.
Surviving are her children, Eugene (Carol) Oatman of Norris; Donna Oatman; Phil Oatman, and Liz (Roscoe) Bickel all of Canton; Charlene (Bruce) Shaeffer; Tom (Lynn) Oatman both of Lewistown; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one sister, Stella Louise Oatman of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary starting work at the Overall Factory, and later enjoyed being a stay at home mother to her children, and house wife to her husband Dick until 1973, then started cleaning house in the Canton area.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church, 10 Vandyke Drive in Canton. Pastor Will Ferguson will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Private burial of ashes will be held at later date in Greenwood Cemetery.
