Warren L. Harris


Canton – Warren L. Harris, 98, of Canton, passed away at 9:43 pm Friday, December 14, 2018, at Red Oak Memory Care in Canton.  He was born on September 8, 1920 in Canton to George and Lula (Rumler) Harris.  Warren married Barbara Lois Fleming on December 28, 1950 in Ipava.  She preceded him death on September 1, 2018.  Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Surviving are two children; Debbie (Kevin) Stephenson of Canton and Mark (Nikki) Harris of Carlinville, three grandchildren; Courtney (Peter Ward) Harris of San Francisco, CA, Scott (Kimmy) Harris of Carlinville, and Shane Harris of Denver, CO.
Warren worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a lineman retiring in 1984.  He was a WWII Army veteran and served as a 39th Combat Engineer.  He was involved in the Invasion of Sicily, Italy, and Anzio.  Warren was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canton, American Legion Post #16 (former Past Commander), 40 & 8, and the Telephone Pioneers.
Services will be 11:30 am Friday, December 21, 2018 at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Canton, where visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:30 am.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be at Shields Chapel Cemetery with Military Honor’s.  Memorials can be made to either 1st Presbyterian Church or the American Legion Post #16.  To view Warren’s DVD or to leave online condolences, please visit www.oakshinesfuneralhome.com
