Karen Dee Hutchcroft


Havana- Karen Dee Hutchcroft, 68, 407 S Pearl St. passed from this life at 8:00 AM Tuesday September 25, 2018. She was known to her family as “Karen” and to her friends and business associates as “Dee”.

Dee was born June 28, 1950 in Quincy, IL; the only child of William Glen “Pete” Hutchcroft and Lucille (Mitze) Hutchcroft. She grew up in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School, Class of 1968. She later graduated from Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas, with a degree in Laboratory Sciences.

She was preceded in death by both her parents: Pete on June 17, 1965, and Lucille on June 17, 2011. Dee never married and had no children.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Warsaw, IL; the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 6 of Macomb, IL.

After working in several hospitals in western Illinois, she was a laboratory technician at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL for over 15 years, until a severe stroke in October 2006 forced her to retire and move in with long-time friends, Charles and Lynn Hadsall.

Dee is survived by two aunts, Ruth Hall of Quincy, IL; Bette Mohart of Gibson City, IL; one uncle, William (Pat) Mitze of Monticello, IL; one step-brother, Denny (Lil) Taylor and family of Warsaw, IL; several cousins and their families, and many friends.

At her request there will be no visitation and burial will be private. Her family will hold a gathering at a later date. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, IL is in charge of arrangements.
