Clay Allen Wise


Clay Allen Wise, age 60, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He was born of January 15, 1960 in Lake Charles, LA, the son of Leslie and Janice (Salisbury) Wise.

Clay was an Army veteran serving in the 124th Signal Battalion, Company C with a rank of Specialist 4. He served from 1983 to 1987.

He worked as a Fork Lift Operator for LaMont.

Clay was a member of the Bob Tribby Post #58 American Legion in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He was a military history enthusiast.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Poloney of Canton, IL, three sisters, Teresa (and Richard) Fleming of Mattoon, IL, Patricia (and Robert) Cupp of Cannon City, CO, and Connie (and Thomas) Rossignol of Aurora, CO, grandmother Irma Salisbury of Canton, three nieces and nephews, two great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

Clay was preceded in death by his father Leslie Wise, grandfather Lyle Salisbury, grandparents Arthur and Maydee Wise, and two aunts, Ruth Ellis and Marilyn Howarter.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Astoria Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Kessler will officiate and there will be full military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Memorials my be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. There will be no visitation.
