James Wilcoxen


Lewistown- James (Jim) Norman Wilcoxen of Lewistown, IL passed into the waiting arms of Jesus at 12:29 pm on Oct. 22, 2016. He was at home surrounded with love by his wife and children. He was born Jan. 28, 1933 to Floyd L. and Corrine “Brownie” (Warren) Wilcoxen of Liverpool, Il. He married Barbara Carol Deushane on Dec 23, 1953 in Canton, IL. Preceding him in death was his parents and brother, Richard.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years and children Belinda and Randy Van Middlesworth of Canton, IL and Cynthia and Donald Jackson of Bloomington, IL.

He so loved his grandchildren, Randall (Kelli) Van Middlesworth, Rachel Van Middlesworth, Alison (Jeremy) Meuth, Andrea (Chris) Franciskovich, Kyle Richter, Donald Jackson Jr., Jessica Jackson, Kathleen Jackson, and Jason(Marcella) Jackson. Great Grandchildren, Halii, Brinn, Sye, Ari, Sydney, Sophie, Jack, Mia, Vivian, and Santiago.

Jim is survived by his two brothers Floyd L. “Willie” (Sherill) Wilcoxen of Liverpool, Il and Dale L. (Judy) Wilcoxen of Havana, Il. as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Jim, alongside two of his brothers, Willie and Richard, served in the US Navy aboard the USS Pocono during the Korean War. He worked as a Senior Process Engineer for Komatsu Dresser in Peoria for 30 years. Jim and Carol lived in Norfolk Va. and then St. David, Il. Prior to his retirement, they moved to his dream log cabin in rural Lewistown.
In his younger years Jim loved hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. He was a true outdoorsman. After giving his heart and life to Christ he became a disciple of Jesus through study and service. He was a member of First Baptist church of Lewistown where he served as a Deacon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor’s Eric Sawyer and Donald Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Salem-Wilcoxen Cemetery at rural Bryant with a military service conducted by the Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lewistown.
