She was born December 9, 1931 in Canton to Oren and Velma (Pollitt) McGinnis. Joan married Charles D. Cardosi on June 3, 1951 in Canton and he died on December 10, 2006.
Surviving are four children, Leah Ayers, Carla Ackerman, and Lori Cardosi all of Canton and Brad Cardosi of Springfield; three grandsons, Troy Dunberger, BJ Ackerman, and Nathan Cardosi; and one brother, Jack McGinnis of Belleville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Julie Cardosi.
Joan retired from Parlin-Ingersoll Library after more than 25 years service.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. She was involved with B.P.W. She enjoyed reading and cherished time with family and friends. Joan loved all sports and was a loyal Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 2nd at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Fulton County Humane Society.
