William Wing Wiseman Sr.

William Wing Wiseman Sr., 91, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 5:01 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. He was born on December 9, 1932 in Springfield, IL to William Francis and Effie Eliza (Milstead) Wiseman. He married Gloria Lynn Swanson on September 16, 1960 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2012.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles E. Wiseman and Kenneth W. Wiseman; and two sisters, Mariellen Hermes and Elizabeth A. Sutton.

He is survived by three children, William W. Wiseman Jr. of Springfield, IL, Charles W. Wiseman of Bartonville, IL, and Steven A. Wiseman of Lee’s Summit, MO; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

William loved his family and long-time friends, and having time to visit with them whenever he could. His work places included, Caterpillar, Peoria, IL 1950/1960, State Farm Ins.: Cedar Rapids IA and Burlington, IA 1962-1965, IBM, Moline, IL. 1965/1968, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL 1968/1970, IRS, Rock Island, IL 1970/1971, IRS, Peoria, IL 1971/1982, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL 1982/1996. He was also a member in four lodges, Farmington, IL Masonic Lodge #192, Valley of Springfield, IL Scottish Rite, ANSAR Shrine, Springfield, IL, and American Legion Post #452, Brimfield, IL.

He was also a veteran of the United States Army from 1953-1955.

Funeral Service with Masonic Rites will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. A visitation will be held the same day from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM. Pastor Curtis Atchley will officiate. Burial will follow service at Elmwood Township Cemetery in Elmwood, IL.
