Surviving are his five children, Lynn (Martin) Anderson of Madeira Beach, FL, Mark (Lisa) Viehweg of Sioux Falls, SD, Lori (Michael) Lally of Lakewood Ranch, FL, David (Barb) Viehweg of Mankato, MN, and Dennis (Stacie) Viehweg of Wayne, IL. Lee was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Lee was a Korean War Veteran and served in the US Army. He was stationed in Okinawa, and proudly played for the US Army Base All-Star Football Team. For two years prior to entering the military, Lee was starter on Eastern Illinois football team.
Lee received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Western Illinois University and was employed as a Principal and Coach at Lewistown Elementary School for 12 years; followed by serving as a Principal at Octavia High School in Colfax, IL for 9 years. He continued in the field of education as an Educational Consultant with the State of IL in 1976 until his retirement in 1987.
Lee enjoyed retirement and spent his days hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling with his wife, Patty. A life well lived!
A private family service will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington, with a burial of ashes at Foster Cemetery in Fairview. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Costa Catholic School in Galesburg where Lee’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren have attended.
