Opal A. Keen

Lewistown- Opal A. Keen, 78, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:40 AM on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at her residence. She was born on January 31, 1946 in Peoria, a daughter of Raymond and Emma (Kindred) Hyde. She married Wilson C. Keen on August 31, 1975 in Peoria. He preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, grandsons, Brian & Christopher Chears, brothers, Melvin, Joe and John Hyde, sisters, Sue Miller, and Kitty Cook.

Surviving are her children, Onya Keen of Lewistown; Steve (Stacy) Keen of Pekin; John (Paula) Chears of Pekin; Charles (Candy) Chears of Canton; Wayne (Diana) Chears of Alabama, and Tony (Jeanetta) Chears of North Carolina; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie Hyde of Peoria, and sisters, Emma Hayward, Mary Pruitt, both of Pekin; Peggy Sloan of Oregon, and Lola Martinez of Peoria.

Opal enjoyed working puzzles, and was an avid BINGO player.

Per Opal’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, and burial of ashes will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Lutheran Cemetery in West Peoria.
