Robert Leo Green

Robert (Bob) L. Green, age 97 of Canton, Illinois and Haines City, Florida passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024. He was born in Canton, Illinois on November 9,1926 to Frank L. Green and Mary Lucille (Campbell) Green. He is now joining the love of his life ,Dona, who passed away 6 years ago after 71 years of marriage.

His spirit and legacy lives on in his 2 children, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and an extended family of friends from every walk of life.

After High School, Bob served in the US Navy as an aviation mechanic during World War II.

After discharge, he completed a degree in mechanical engineering at Bradley University. He was hired by International Harvester Company Plow Works eventually becoming Plant Engineer. He worked at Harvester for thirty-five years until the facility closed.

He was a member of the VFW and lifetime member of the American Legion.

Bob was an active great grandfather, supportive grandfather, loving dad and husband. Bob loved to golf, do woodworking of all types, read, explore the computer and never gave up on the Cubs winning the World Series. As children we were always getting something new from stilts to building tree houses, which we enjoyed for many years and helped us learn life-long lessons. He leaves with us many memories of vacationing on Lower Whitefish Lake in Minnesota, hosting Christmas, exploring Disney with the family and much, much more. His love for golf throughout his life kept him moving, active and social until his final days. His strong faith was evident as a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton and St. Ann’s in Haines City as well as belonging to the Knights of Columbus.

With loving memories, he is survived by daughter Marty (Green) and late Ron Noel, grandkids Scott and Teri Noel (great grandkids: Maggie, Andrew, Emily, Caitlin, and Drew), grandkids Shannon (Noel) and JJ Bosgraaf (great grandkids: Case, Dirk, and Reece), grandkids Maegan (Noel) and Damon Bowman (great grandkids: Ethan and Grace), grandkid: Michael Noel, and late grandkid: Robert Paul Noel, son Steve and late Debbie (Bartlett) Green, grandkid: Matthew Green and grandkids Mindi (Green)and John Geyer (great grandkids: Abigail and Josephine)

Services will be Friday, August 9, 2024 10:00 am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 139 E. Chestnut, Canton, Illinois. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 139 E. Chestnut, Canton, Illinois 61520. Celebration of Life and Arrangements will be provided by Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, Canton, Illinois.
