Dallas “Bud” Burgett, 86, of Havana, passed away at his home at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was born on March 21, 1938 in Havana to Chester and Margaret (Smith) Burgett. He married Rosemary Bridges on May 19, 1957 in Havana, and she survives.Bud is also survived by his children, Debbie (Chris) Bishop of Havana, DeEtta (Carl) Martorana of South Gulf Cove, Florida, and David (April) Burgett of Astoria; grandchildren, Erica (Ray) Braden and Savannah and Anabelle Burgett; great-grandson, Hank Braden; brother, Chester L. “Jr.” Burgett of Havana; sister-in-law, Vivian Towery of Havana; and brothers-in-law, David Bridges of North Carolina and Robert Fawcett of Havana. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Fawcett and Rosalyn “Nean” Bridges; and one infant sister.
Bud attended church services at the Havana Assembly of God. He worked for Caterpillar for 32 years and the City of Havana for 13 years. He and his wife later delivered the Pekin Times in rural Mason County for several years. Bud was a member of Masonic Lodge #88 for 50 years. He was an avid boater and owns a 1976 Aristocrat bought new that he named River Runner II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, and loved to share his produce with the community. He was well known for his metal chicken collection in his yard.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mike Hopps will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made in Bud’s name to Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences can be left for his family at www.hurleyfh.com.
