Eddie "Ed" Breese


Eddie “Ed” Breese, 78 of Canton passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 17, 1945 in Canton and was raised by his grandparents.

He married Cynthia Agre on September 17, 1966 in Canton. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his uncle and aunt, Bill and Pat Fidler.

Surviving is his son, Darren (Jeannie) Breese of Canton, daughter, Brenda (Darren) Sprague of Farmington, five grandchildren, Kayla (Chase) Welker, Alli Sprague, Macie Sprague, all of Farmington and Delanie and Jacob Breese of Canton, and three great grandchildren, Brynden, Brexley and Dutton.

Ed graduated from Canton High School and then worked for the Canton Daily Ledger.

Ed retired from Keystone Steel and Wire after 35 years of service at the age of 52.

He loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed gardening, making wood crafts and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

He was affectionally known as the “Tomato Man”. He grew over 100 tomato plants along with other vegetables for people around Fulton County. He wanted everyone to have fresh vegetables to enjoy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11 am, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

A visitation will be held one hour prior.

Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Canton.

Memorials can be made to the Farmington Rescue Squad.
