Jessica "Dane" Hake

Jessica “Dana” Hake, 49, of Dunlap, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. She was born June 3, 1974, in Peoria, IL, to Jerry “Dean” Janssen and Diane (Bruninga) Janssen. Dana married her high school sweetheart, Paul Hake on May 20, 1995 and he survives.

Also surviving are her boys, Jaden Hake of Deland Florida, Jesse Hake, and Jonas Hake who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister, Johnna “Deanne” (Darrell) Dunbar and her nephew Darrell Dunbar, IV.

Dana attended Greenville College and graduated with her degree from the University of Illinois. With that degree she became the Director of HISRA (Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association) at the Peoria Park District before becoming a stay-at-home mom to raise her precious boys. Once the boys were older, she served in the position of Assistant Athletic Director at Peoria Christian School for several years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards, IL and for many years she participated in their MOPS program as a member, then later a mentor to many new moms.

Dana had a beautiful spirit and a heart for others. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Spending time with her family was the most important thing in her life and her love of sports made her the best mom for her boys as she was at every game or event they participated in and was their biggest supporter.

She loved their many family trips to Disney World and the beach where you would find her collecting seashells. In her spare time, she loved doing her own home remodeling projects and decorating her home as well as cuddling and spoiling the family dog, Sidney.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church, 7422 N. Heinz Ln., Edwards, IL on Friday, May 10, 2024. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 6:30 at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Elmwood is overseeing arrangements.
