Irmalee Hootman


Cuba – Irmalee Hootman, 84, of Cuba, passed away at 2:20 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on January 21, 1935 in Fairview to Raymond and Adelaide (Viano) Barnes. She married Jim Hootman on July 5, 1953 in Maples Mill, he survives.

Also surviving are two children, Deborah (Jeff) Raymond of Cuba, IL and Timothy (Annabel) Hootman of Alaska; four grandchildren, Crystal (Matt) Horton, T.J. Hootman, Kendra (Jake) Raymond, and Abigail Hootman; one great-granddaughter, Makenzie Horton; and one sister, Virginia (Ed) Churchill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, June Miller.

Irmalee worked for many receptionists’ jobs and retired from the George Foster dental office. Irmalee was the main secretary for the principal at Cuba High School. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, P.E.O. Foundation, Women of the Moose, and the Cuba Christian Church for over 60 years where she earned the honorary title of Elder Emeritus. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, riding horses, dancing and entertaining. She loved her family immensely and had a deep and unshakeable faith in God. It is that faith that brought her through life’s valleys and has given her a great reward in heaven.

Services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Rev. Mike Arnett will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Providence Chapel Cemetery in rural Farmington, IL. A visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service.
