Canton – Melba Maxine McCarthy,
87 of Canton passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical
Center in Peoria. She was born on August
24, 1929 in Banner, IL. to James William and Della Frances (Brown) Bain. Melba married Maurice James McCarthy on July
20, 1959 in Arlington, Virginia. He
preceded her in death on March 14, 1992.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, brother Bernard Francis
Bain and sister Alta Pauline Nayden.
Surviving is two children; Maureen Melba McCarthy of Canton and William
“Bill” James McCarthy of Columbia, Maryland.
Melba worked for 35 years for the
National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Maryland, retiring in May 1986. She was
of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Phoenix Society.
Cremation rites have been
accorded and there will be a burial of ashes at White Chapel Memory Gardens in
Canton on December 28th, 2016.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the National Ataxia
