John graduated from Canton high school in 1956 and after working at the A & P Super Market for a short time he started his career with the International Harvester Company, Canton plant in their Engineering department October 21, 1957.  He then transferred to the new IHC Design and Engineering Center in Hinsdale, IL. in March 1959.  He worked there the rest of his career and retired in 1997 with 40 years’ service.  He worked on the designing and engineering of new Farm equipment and machines and has his name on 30 patents.
John and his wife Leta, lived and raised their family during the 40 years they lived in Romeoville, IL. near Chicago.  They were members of the Bible Baptist Church there, held the position of deacon, Christian school board member, Awana boys and girls clubs Commander Sunday school department Superintendent, and teacher.  After a few years of retirement there, they relocated to the peaceful rural area near Lewistown and Canton their home town.  He is a member of Calvary Baptist in Canton and an avid Cubs fan and was able to witness the Cubs win the World Series.  John’s hobby besides enjoying his grandchildren, family and country “estate”, which he named God’s little Acre, is genealogy and family historian.  He wrote a book on the Stufflebeam family lineage with two more complete updated books, plus a large family tree.
Per John’s request, he asked that his family and friends omit memorials, gift funds and flowers.  His prayer was that instead of these, they would take time out in their busy lives and read the 4th book of the Bible, New Testament, St. John and draw closer to the Lord and get saved or renew the joy of their salvation and all attend the church of their choice every Sunday.
