Jimmie D. Essex, 80, of Canton, passed away at 3:50 PM on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Graham Hospital in Canton. He was born on January 12, 1936 in Canton, the son of Clarys and Rhoda (Bartlett) Essex. He married Norma Rock on February 9, 1957 in Ellisville. She survives.
Also surviving are his two children, Richard Essex of Cuba; Linda (Barry) Sneath of Dunlap, one sister, Virginia Bales of Florida; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Charlie) Barrick of Cuba, Matt (Becky) Essex of Bourbannais, Amanda (Tyler) Rector of Table Grove, Aubrey Williams and Allison Williams both of Dunlap, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked for International Harvester for 20 years, and later worked for CIC and United Technology, at the Mitsubishi plant ; he was a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge, and was in the National Guard.
Per Jimmie’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main Street, Canton. In lieu of flowers or plants to the family memorials can be made to the Salvation Army. To leave online condolences please visit www.sedgwickfuneralhomes.com
