Norris – Robert O. Siedel, 97, of Norris passed away 9:45 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington. He was born on May 19, 1919 in Peoria, IL to Albert S. and Ethel B. (Cluts) Siedel. Bob married Virginia Ruth Mitchell on November 2, 1940 in Palmyra, MO. She survives along with two children; Jack (Sara) Siedel of Knoxville and Sharon (late Russell) Schrodt of Canton, six grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Clarence G. Siedel, and John A. Diefenbach and one sister Letha M. Johnson.
Bob worked at the Ohio River Company for 34 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Past Master of Fairview Lodge #350, Past High Priest of Canton Royal Arch Chapter #68, Retired Lieutenant of Norris Fire Department, member of Scottish Rite in Peoria, member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton, and was an avid Chicago White Sox’s fan. Bob was a WW2 Navy veteran where he served as an Aviation Ordnance man.
Services will be 11 am Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Masonic Rites at 10:45 am. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 am on Saturday. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made either Farmington Country Manor or Macular Degeneration Foundation.
