Harriett L. Zachman


Canton-Harriett L. (Williams) Zachman, 88, of Canton, passed away on February 27, 2016 at 4:15 a.m. in Stuart, Florida.
She was born on December 11, 1927 in Pottstown, IL to John and Harriett (Tincher) Williams. They preceded her in death. Harriett graduated from Manual High School and was a proud member of the band.
She married Howard Zachman Sr. on January 10, 1947 in Kankakee, IL.  He preceded her in death on May 15, 2010.
Her surviving children are Judy (Bob) Koppers of Overland Park, KS, Terry (Sherlane) Zachman of Kennesaw, GA, Stan (Jan) Zachman of Indiantown, FL, daughter-in-law, Jody Zachman of Vonore, TN, brother, John Williams Jr., sisters, Elizabeth Calas, Joanne Fulk, Mary Pollitt, Carol Sue Hamm, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death is one son Howard Zachman, Jr. of Vonore, TN, October 10, 2015 and  one grandchild Scott Zachman of Peoria, IL, May 30, 1994.
Harriett taught kindergarten in her home and later worked as a teacher for Lawndale Grade School. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Canton IL and the Order of the Eastern Star. Harriett enjoyed sewing and Quilt making her entire life and spent many hours of her time with her adoring grandchildren. She left many precious memories behind her for her family to enjoy. She was a loving and gracious lady always with a smile on her face and always tried to put her best foot forward.  She will be truly missed by all her family and friends in the various places she lived throughout the years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11 am, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.  The family will be receiving friends and family at a luncheon provided after the services.  
Cremation rites have been accorded.
