He was born on September 12, 1946 in Canton to Edward and Rila (Purtle) Smith. They preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Kenny (Jessica Dodd) Smith of Canton, Chad Smith of Marion, Jim (Kori) Sheff of Canton, grandchildren, Madison, Makenna, Mason, Great grandchildren, Oliver, Violet, brother, Larry Smith, sister, Gloria Allard and his longtime companion, Linda Riley.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Linda Owens.
He served in the U.S. Army and after his discharge Ron worked as a crane operator for Gavenda Scrap Yard. He also enjoyed being at his home tinkering in his garage.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11am at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation held one hour prior at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
