He is survived by three children, Steven (Mary) Geier, Deanna (Matt) Ward, and Timothy Geier; eight grandchildren, Carrie Wright, Stephanie Sarchet, Jaycee Rodriguez, James Ward, Caty Ward, Gavin Geier, Ashley Geier, and Sophie Geier; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael (Linda) Geier; seven sisters, Cheryl (late Douglas) Fraser, Sandra Kinzey, Gerry (Dennis) Widenhammer, Deborah (Jim) Peckham, Jill (late Afton) Booth, Janice (late Dean) Phillips, and Barbara (Bill) Runyon.
He is preceded in death by his brother, James Geier.
Gene worked and retired from Caterpillar after 33 years. After retirement he enjoyed farming. He also enjoyed fishing in Florida and camping. He loved his family gatherings and holidays. He was extremely proud of his Navy service and career at Caterpillar.
Gene was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL. Rev. Kevin Van Tine will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held at Trivoli Cemetery in Trivoli, IL, following the service.
