He was born in Canton on June 4, 1945, to Leo “Harold” E., and Velda F. (Robbins) Chasteen. They preceded him in death.
Harold married Christine (Columbia) on August 3, 1972. They shared 44 years of marriage until she passed away on March, 19, 2017.
He is also preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Monty Chasteen, one sister, Malvina, and one brother, Richard Chasteen.
He is survived by three children, Joseph “Joe” (Lori) Almasi of Iowa, Angela (Jean Kueter) Almasi of Iowa, and Martin “Marty” Chasteen, one brother, Lester “Frankie” (Linda) Chasteen, sister-in-law, Suzanne (Jim) Humphrey, nine grandchildren, Kaylie Chasteen, Paige (David) Freeze, Jordyn (Hunter) Rhodes, Nick Almasi, Taylor Chasteen, Heath (Ailis McCradle) Nichols, Rane Nichols, Kent Nichols, and Trenton Chasteen, and 15 great grandchildren,
Harold was part of the steamfitter Local 353 in Peoria for 48 years. He retired in 2004. He later worked at New Horizons School in Lewistown.
He is a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1963 until 1969. He is a Master Mason. He was part of the Farmington Masonic Lodge, as well as the Lewistown American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Most of all Harold enjoyed spending time with his family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Canton VFW.
